Wonder by R.J. Palacio

"I wish every day could be Halloween. We could all wear masks all the time. Then we could walk around and get to know each other before we got to see what we looked like under the masks."

Wonder is the story of 10-year-old August "Auggie" Pullman. Auggie was born with severe facial deformities, which prevented him from even attending school. But everything changes when he enters the fifth grade. He is enrolled in Beecher Prep, the same school his sister used to attend. The story follows his encounters with school bullies, kind classmates, and his struggles with self-consciousness.

Auggie is a huge Star Wars fan and is smart and funny, but no one seems to care about his personality because of how he looks. Eventually, he manages to make some friends, Jack and Summer. Additionally, His family is close-knit and extremely supportive.

In the beginning, the story is told from Auggie's perspective, but later on, it includes the perspectives of Jack, Summer, Via (Auggie's sister), and so many more. This makes the book even more interesting because it allows the reader to understand the motive and thoughts behind each character's actions.

Although it is middle-grade fiction, people of all ages can enjoy this book. It has themes of love, kindness, and bravery. And also helps one understand the power of friendship, the importance of second chances, and the strength it takes to stand up for oneself.

This book is highly recommended for anyone who's looking for a simple, heartwarming story that is sure to make them cry, but also smile at the same time.
