The most controversial headlines in India for the past few days have been regarding the Kangana versus Shiv Sena war.
This "war" began on Twitter after Kangana expressed her feelings on the tragic demise of her fellow colleague Sushant Singh Rajput and stated how she felt unsafe in Mumbai, and further compared Mumbai to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK).
Since then, there has been an ongoing cold war between the two, this war of words escalated after Sanjay Raut, Shiv Sena MP commented on Kangana saying "haramkhor ladki" he also indicated that She will not be able to enter Mumbai.
To which, Kangana had replied in one of her tweets that she will be coming to Mumbai on 9th, "jisko jo ukkhadna hai ukhad le".
The Brihanmumbai Municipal corporation relentlessly demolished the actor's office space in Mumbai, on the
9th of September.
After the demolition of her office space in Mumbai, the local daily Marathi newspaper passed a headline which said "ukhad liya." clarifying the demolition to be an act of personal revenge from the party's side.
Although there have been tons of various opinions on this particular case. Many believe the whole fiasco to be a provocative stunt serving the actor's personal interests and taking advantage of the demise of Sushant Singh Rajput, while the other's are looking up to her for her bold, fearless questioning to the government about the unjust policies being followed. Some also believe the involvement of a political angle amidst the controversy.
I believe, that when a 15-year-old girl runs away from her home in Himachal and comes to Delhi all by herself to pursue theatre and further works hard her entire life to achieve her goals and make a strong, independent, bold name,
Who doesn't shy away from standing up for the truth and justice is filled with courage.
While on the other hand, Shiv Sena holds it's own prominent political history and has been actively promoting its ideology in Maharashtra. The members and followers are allegedly considered to be staunch Hindu extremists.
When two such strong extremist ideologies collide, the result divinely has to be something massive.
There is an upsurge among the public and the Bollywood industry in support of Kangana, regarding how the demolition was the "death of democracy" unlawful and insensitive. Many questions were raised such as, how come the BMC suddenly noticed all the unsanctioned development in the actor's property and abruptly demolished the whole structure, including the fixtures, furniture and the sanctioned area which is not technically allowed for the BMC to demolish. It not only takes a huge amount of money to build a home in Mumbai but also has an emotional attachment as it's a dream to many.
The BMC backed the demolition carried out at the actor's property
in the Bombay high court during the hearing on the matter on Thursday and claimed that BMC officials had found that substantial changes were made to the sanctioned plan of the premises owned by Ranaut.
However, a complaint has also been filed against Ranaut for using foul language against the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackerey.
Kangana has been accorded Y- plus security by the centre which is also being criticised by the opposition.
Let's wait and watch how far this war escalates, although it doesn't seem to be simmering down any time soon.
Let's also not forget how in this crucial time of a global pandemic, how to battle the increasing numbers of COVID-19 cases should be the main focus along with the falling GDP and 21 million lost jobs.
