Restoration Of Statehood to J&K - Indefinitely pending?

After 70 years of Kashmir’s intricate relation with India, around two years ago on August 5, 2019, the government revoked section 370 which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir. Since 2019 the Indian forces have committed acts of terror against the Kashmiri community, some of these include, rape, torture, and illegal killings. After almost two years there is still a loss of statehood and community within Kashmiris, the statehood that was promised to the vulnerable in J&K is still due.

Recently, 14 leaders, ministers and ex-ministers from Jammu and Kashmir have raised their demands to restore statehood in their states promptly. During the abrogation of Section 370 and a worldwide pandemic, the affected areas had experienced a loss of internet and were on lockdown for the longest period. Throughout this time Kashmiris had to deal with trauma and cope with other problems while being on lockdown. Indian forces that are deployed in Kashmir have used their power against the community, especially Kashmiri women, who are victims of harassment. It is certain that Jammu and Kashmir are in dire need of restoration in their states and return to living a life of comfort and safety soon. The lockdown has also increased domestic violence against women and girls. Lack of education and proper healthcare has led to a decline in human well-being among the people living in J&K.

If the reinstatement is delayed any further, many crimes against the community will be committed and the population would have to live in terror in their own safe spaces. Separating areas based on Muslim and Hindu majorities will lead to rapid wane in Indian secularism, making India a huge democratic failure in the foreseeing future.
