TW: Sexual abuse, rape, death
If the existence of a pandemic was known as pre-pandemic, there would have been
insights on how the pandemic would entail economic, social, and political failure along with the loss of housing privileges and homelessness in general. During the pandemic, crowds of people were laid off of their jobs, especially the ones that could not be managed via an online platform, these people were left to deal with unemployment as well as deprivation of income. Without a stable income, commoners were not able to keep up with the housing payments and ended up giving up their houses.

In India especially, 1.7 homeless people have been affected during the covid-19 pandemic. People who have been staying at an emergency shelter or communal homes have experienced homelessness as well. Overall, people have started staying and sleeping in places that are not meant to be habituated like parks, sidewalks, vehicles, etc.
Nevertheless, people who decided to stay in emergency shelters made for the homeless
still had difficulties.
Homeless women in India were exposed to sexual violence, abuse, and rape along with Covid-19 repercussions. Shelters have also been lacking in proper medical treatment and services, water, and food. Homeless people during the Covid-19 pandemic are prone to death and disability due to the absence of essential necessities.
Overall, people who experienced homelessness increased in numbers after and during the pandemic. Job cuts resulting in unstable incomes had been a factor for homeless people along with increasing rent and unaffordable houses. Improvement of homeless shelters so that they are able to provide clothes, food, water, and medical services along with a sanitary environment. Provision of rations, as well as stable employment opportunities from the government, is also crucial for homeless people during the coronavirus pandemic.
