Pak lauds one-party system; 100 years of CPC

It is well-known that Pakistan and China have been strong partners for years. Imran Khan, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, recently congratulated China on 100 years of the founding of their Communist Party.

He could be heard praising China’s performance and development, commending the country on lifting thousands out of poverty. "What the CPC has done is that, without that electoral democracy, it has fared much better. What I saw in China when I visit the Communist Party headquarters and when they give us briefings about their system of sifting talent and then grooming it and bringing it up, for me it is probably more remarkable than any electoral democracy."

Also, Imran Khan claimed that Pakistan has been facing increased pressure from the West over its strengthening ties with China. He promised that Pakistan will not succumb to their demands and insistences. During an interview with the China Global Television Network (CGTN), he highlighted that nothing could alter their “time-tested ties”.

Furthermore, he used this as an opportunity to support China and stated that the country has “always stood with us” in times of trouble and need, both politically and internationally.

He emphasized, "In good times, everyone stands with you but in your difficult, tough times, bad times, you remember those people who stood by you. That's why you will find that in Pakistan, people always have a special fondness for people in China," he said”.

Addressing the controversy surround Uyghur Muslims in China, the Prime Minister stated that China’s take on the matter is different from the Western World’s belief and reportage. “We have a very strong relationship with China based on trust. So, we accept the Chinese version," he stated.

Also, addressing India’s role in the global economy, he argued that if India leans toward the Western World it would be detrimental for its economy. He claimed developing its trading relations with China would only prove beneficial for India.
