As the whole world knows by now, the conflict between Israel and Palestine has been so prolonged that it has continued for almost 54 years and naturally has been included in one of the world’s longest crises. The citizens of both Israel and Palestine have had enough of politicians and conflict-mongers disturbing the natural peace and stability of their nations over every other issue. In May 2021, we witnessed yet another gruesome clash between Israel and Palestine due to ownership rights over certain properties in East Jerusalem. When the clash in question eventually ceased thanks to a ceasefire on 21 May 2021, everyone was under the impression that this was the final straw in the hat and that both the nations would work diplomatically towards establishing a state of concord.
Unfortunately, the ceasefire has proved to be of little to almost no significance as recently, Israel has targeted the Gaza strip, a self-governing territory in Palestine located on the Mediterranean Sea’s eastern coast. for the third time since May 2021. While it is hard to determine the exact dates of the aforementioned air raids, they likely took place on the 9th, 10th and 29th of June, 2021 itself.

Causes & Effects Of The First Two Air Raids: While the first air raid is said to be caused due to incendiary balloons or balloon bombs are balloons that are inflated with gasses lighter than air, such as hydrogen in this case and have a bomb attached to them, the cause of the second one hasn’t been clearly stated. As, for the first raid, as stated by aljazeera.com, groups in Palestine consigned these balloons in the Southern parts of Israel which, in turn, caused a fire in numerous fields across the latter. Subsequently, Israel was instigated and launched air raids on the land strip of Gaza. However, in the light of discrepancy, it should be noted that there were no causalities in both nations.
The Latest/ Third Air Raid: Naturally, both nations (Israel & Palestine) have been in a state of unrest and uncertainty since the previous airstrikes. Yet again, incendiary balloons deployed by certain groups operating in Palestine incited the Israeli defence authorities and they did not hold back in any manner. The latter made its intentions clear through a public statement:
“In response to the arson balloons fired towards Israeli territory today, [military] fighter jets struck … a weapons manufacturing site belonging to the Hamas terror organization.”While it hasn’t been confirmed that the group which instigated the raid was Hamas( a terrorist organization that operates from Palestine) indeed, all the evidence testify to Israel’s claims. Fortunately, the air raid or balloon bombs were not responsible for any deaths or injuries in neither Israel nor Palestine.
However, no one can assure that this state of no harm and safety will prevail for much longer. As close observers of the Israeli-Palestine conflict know, a trivial issue has transformed into a major and destructive one and has taken a heavy toll on the life of innocent citizens. These consecutive air raids have created a sense of insecurity among 2 million people living in the Gaza strip. Human rights agencies have expressed deep concern as well, especially due to the fact half of the people who live in Gaza are under 18 years of age. We can only hope that with the aid of the UN and other countries, a state of tranquillity can be established between Israel and Palestine.
