The USA has a long history with gun laws and gun violence. More and more often there are daily mass shootings with a lot of dead victims and injured people. In some states, weapons are allowed, in some only partly and in others they aren’t. However, the significant increase in mass shootings does indicate a problem with a solid foundation.

What happened in Indianapolis, Atlanta and Essex in the near past?
On the 16th of April, a person shot 8 workers of the logistic company “FedEx” in a building of the parcel service. A few others got hurt but are now in the hospital.
On the 28th of March, Joshua Green killed his parents and two other people at a Royal Farms convenience store in Essex. After this act, he killed himself with his own weapon.
On the 17th of April a person shot 8 workers of a massage salon, 7 of them were female and had Asian roots. A suspicious 21-year-old man is now under arrest. Some people think this act was motivated by Asian hate, but until now the police can’t give a clear statement.
The desperate search for the "Why?"
A lot of people are asking the same question: Why does that happen? The fact that in some states it is allowed to buy and in particular situations use a weapon definitely plays a big role in this whole discussion. The spike of mass shootings may also be due in part to the anger that exists among some people over the ouster of former President Donald Trump. Also, a racist motivation could be a reason, especially facing the shooting at the massage salons where a big part of the dead victims were people with Asian roots. A big step in preventing these mass shootings would be a general Prohibition of weapons in every state of the USA, as US president Joe Biden demands.
