Defiance for the sake of defiance is unproductive at best, destructive at worst.

"Even nectar is poison if taken in excess."
The word 'defiance' is described as an "open resistance" or a "bold disobedience". Certainly, the act of defiance is important. It's an act of resistance against a policy you disagree with, a confrontation with that overbearing boss. It is dissent, opposition - an important aspect of communication, and one of the foundations of democracy.
The most powerful result of defiance in Indian history is during the British colonial period. The Civil Disobedience and Non-Cooperation Movements were essentially acts of collective dissent against the ruling government. Acts of rebellion strengthened by a large number of citizens led to the eventual independence of India.
But what happens when this goes too far?
It would be easy to just say, "Too much of anything is never good", and leave it at that. With defiance, it's a bit more complicated.

There is a sort of thrill in rebellion and breaking the rules. The adolescent brain especially finds enjoyment in this. Sometimes some people like to defy rules just to have fun with it. This time-consuming process causes interference and is unproductive for everyone involved.
Although defiance is essential for new perspectives, if executed by a person or group of persons continuously and tirelessly, it starts to become obnoxious and irrelevant. This is defiance for the sake of defiance.
A byproduct of this phenomenon is a "boy who cried wolf" situation. If someone who needs to defy every single thing voices their opinion, it usually falls on deaf ears. Nit-picking every small aspect is quite unproductive. It can be extended to say that it is destructive because it wastes people's time and reduces reliability.
When applying this concept to your life, there are some things to think about.
Firstly, prioritise. In a world where there are so many things to find fault in, it feels like you are the one who has to change everything. This attitude is unproductive as no one person can tackle all the problems in the world.
Next, make sure to do your research and provide effective solutions. There is no point in bringing up problems without creating solutions. Responsibility is attained when there is defiance. Lastly, learn to accept things you cannot change. A harsh reality is that some things cannot change, no matter how hard we try.
In summary, the key to having a healthy relationship with defiance is to create balance. A balance between what is worth fighting over and what should just be accepted can be learnt with experience and time. After all, your opinions, time, and efforts are invaluable resources.
